Former Utah State Representative Phil Lyman announced his intention to run for governor again in 2028, following a write-in campaign in the 2024 election that secured him third place behind Utah Gov. Spencer Cox and Democrat Brian King. Speaking at a forum in Orem, Lyman emphasized his commitment to combating the state's political system and vowed to continue his efforts to challenge the status quo, stating, "I do plan on running in four years, and the truth is, I plan on fighting this fight on whatever front."
Despite the challenges faced in 2024, Lyman remains resolute in his political ambitions. He concluded the forum by reiterating his dedication to exposing corruption and advocating for transparency in Utah's electoral system, stating, "We didn’t run for governor because we wanted to hold the office. We ran for governor because we wanted to expose the corruption that was taking place in Utah."
